11 of School’s Projects Honored with Jiangsu Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences

The School of Journalism and Communication received two first prizes, seven second prizes, and two third prizes of the 16th Jiangsu Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences, according to the announcement of Jiangsu Provincial Government. 

These prizes mark a major breakthrough of the school in winning provincial awards and significant progress in the school’s academic research.

The school has long attached great importance to academic studies, improving incentives and mechanisms and boosting the research of the faculty. The academic output of the school has thus increased a lot in both quality and quantity.

The first prize

The second prize

A history of American communication thoughts, monograph, by Hu Yiqing, et al.

A new study of Huaxia communication from the perspective of cross-cultural comparison, monograph, by Pan Xianghui.

A study of legal issues in privacy protection in the context of new media, monograph, by Chen Tangfa.

The digital youth: A new angle of cultural studies, monograph, by Zhu Lili, et al.

Beyond the West Lake: The lifestyle of the literati artists in the late Ming dynasty, monograph, by Li Xiaoyu.

A survey of public literacy of humanities and social sciences in Jiangsu province, popular work, by Chao Naipeng, et al.

The third prize

Media, power and gender: The change of female media image and gender equality in the People’s Republic of China, monograph, by Wang Lei.

The May Fourth Movement in rural areas: Its communication and mobilization and nationalism, paper, by Bian Donglei.

The school will continue to improve the overall, strategic planning of subject distribution and specialty development and, by promoting quality, impetus, and efficiency, achieve disciplinary development that is comprehensive, balanced and sustainable.

Geared to the major needs of the country and academic front edge, the school will speed up its innovation-driven development in academic studies.

By putting in full play the initiative and creativity of the faculty and students, the school will make further progress in all areas of its work.
