Closing Ceremony Held for 2024 Class Master Student of Journalism Practice Training Camp

On the morning of 23 December, the closing ceremony for the "Nanjing University 2024 Class Master Student of Journalism Practice Training Camp" was held at the Nanjing Press Media Group. Ms. Jin Liping, Member of the Party Committee of Nanjing Press Media Group and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Nanjing Daily; Professor Yuan Guangfeng, Vice Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication at NJU; and Bai Jing, Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at NJU, attended the training summary meeting. Interns from the SJC shared their experiences and reflections from the four-month training.


The guiding instructors from both sides selected six outstanding training reports from the 11 submitted by the interns, recognizing them for their comprehensive summaries and in-depth reflections. Students including Hao Yuebing, Zeng Dan, Huang Jiaqi, Duan Mingmiao, and Wang Yulin spoke as representatives. They shared insights such as: "This training was a valuable cultivation; every step gave me a deeper understanding of 'telling Nanjing's stories well through the lens'"; "Good news must be pursued on the ground, and it must also be understandable and resonant with readers"; "This period of training made me deeply appreciate the mission that media professionals shoulder: to let sincere voices be heard and the echoes of history be remembered"; and "To summarize my internship at Nanjing Press Media Group, I think the keywords must be being on the scene and perspective."




From September to December 2025, the School collaborated with Nanjing Press Media Group to organize theTraining Camp. 11 interns began their four-month training across various departments of the Group, including the Economic News Department, Livelihood News Department, District and Street News Department, Culture and Sports Supplement Department, Education and Health Business Department, Urban Construction and Transportation Business Department under the Integrated Media Center and Development Center, as well as the Government Affairs and Public Opinion Research Institute and the International Communication Center.


The Training Camp is an important achievement of the joint practical training base established by the School and Nanjing Press Media Group. This project is an innovative practice within the School's Master of Professional Studies training system, officially launched after the implementation of the new training plan in 2023. It aims to strengthen the cultivation of professional practical skills and innovative capabilities for Master Student of Journalism Practice students through in-depth cooperation with local mainstream media where the university is located, thereby supplying qualified journalism and communication professionals to society.


Professor Bai Jing emphasized the importance of correctly viewing foundational and repetitive work for professional growth during the meeting. Summarizing the development trajectories of students since the establishment of the training base, she noted that systematic practical training not only solidly equips students with news gathering and editing skills but also promotes their deep understanding of the operational logic and social responsibilities of mainstream media.


Vice Dean Professor Yuan Guangfeng congratulated all students on the successful completion of their training. He stated, "These four months of training were not just a course in the curriculum but a precious professional initiation." He pointed out that this collaboration is a significant practice for the School in deepening industry-education integration and innovating talent cultivation mechanisms, highlighting the crucial role of academia-industry collaborative education in nurturing future journalism and communication professionals. In the future, the School looks forward to further expanding in-depth cooperation with Nanjing Press Media Group in areas such as talent cultivation and social services.


Deputy Editor-in-Chief Ms. Jin Liping praised the School's interns. She commended their dedication and innovative spirit, demonstrated through their deep engagement at the frontline of news and participation in multiple major reports and activities over the four months, embodying the ethos of "having feet covered in mud and pens carrying dewdrops." She encouraged the students to maintain their curiosity, hone their practical abilities, adhere to their sense of responsibility, and convey positive energy through works with warmth.
